Grayson Mill Energy’s team has a demonstrated track record in value creation through the capture of expansive resource, expanding resource plays into new areas, and directing thousands of unconventional horizontal wells. The team’s experience spans both oil and gas resource plays including the Williston, Marcellus, Denver Julesburg, Uinta, Powder River, Green River, Duvernay, Eagleford, Permian, Piceance, Fayetteville, Woodford, Barnett, Wolfcamp, SCOOP/STACK, among others.

Executive Team

Eric Bayes | Chief Executive Officer

Eric Bayes serves as CEO for Grayson Mill Energy.  Prior to his current position, he served in a variety of roles of increasing responsibility with Oasis Petroleum.  Most recently, he served as the Vice President, Completion and Production.  Previously, Mr. Bayes served as General Manager of the Williston office from January 2013 to March 2015.  Prior to this, he served as Completions Engineering Manager from August 2011 to January 2013 and as a Senior Operations Engineer from December 2009 to August 2011. Prior to joining Oasis, Mr. Bayes served in various engineering capacities at Hess Corporation working on operations in Equatorial Guinea, North Dakota, Deepwater GOM and reservoir roles in North Dakota.  Mr. Bayes holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Blake Sullens | Chief Operating Officer

Blake Sullens serves as COO for Grayson Mill Energy. Prior to his current position, he served as part of the Management team for Alta Resources, LLC, an industry leading private oil and gas company founded in 1999. Most recently, Mr. Sullens served as Operations Manager and was responsible for the technical evaluation for asset acquisitions across the North America basins from 2013 to March 2016. Previously from 2010 to 2013, Mr. Sullens played a pivotal role in the acquisition and divestiture of assets in the Duvernay Shale, as well as oversaw the entirety of operations. Prior to joining Alta, Mr. Sullens played an active role in Hess’s Unconventional New Ventures Team. Mr. Sullens holds a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Matt Ultis | Chief Financial Officer

Matt Ultis serves as CFO for Grayson Mill Energy. Prior to his current position, Mr. Ultis served as CFO and VP for Redman Management Company, an oil and gas portfolio company of GSO Capital Partners, a Blackstone Company. Prior to joining Redman, Mr. Ultis served in a variety of capacities with Oasis Petroleum with responsibilities in strategic planning, business development, investor relations, treasury, risk mitigation, and financial reporting. Most recently, he served as Manager, Finance and Investor Relations from 2013 through 2015. Previously, Mr. Ultis served as Manager, Business Development and Strategic Planning from 2010 through 2013. Prior to joining Oasis, Mr. Ultis held positions of increasing responsibilities with FTI Consulting, Constellation Energy Group, and Constellation Energy Partners. Mr. Ultis holds a B.B.A. from Concordia University, Texas, a M.S.- Finance from Texas A&M University, and an M.B.A. from the University of Texas.

Deward (Dewey) Gerdom, Jr. | Vice President Business Development

Dewey Gerdom serves as VP Business Development for Grayson Mill Energy.  Prior to his current position, he served as VP of Business Development at Bright Horizon Resources (BHR). BHR focused its acquisition efforts in the Midcontinent and East Texas basins. Before joining the BHR team, Mr. Gerdom was the CEO of PDC Mountaineer, LLC (PDCM), a joint venture that was formed to develop Marcellus assets in the Appalachian Basin. His team owned and operated over 3,000 shallow wells and was on the leading edge of being responsible for extending the southern boundaries of the Marcellus play into Northern West Virginia. Prior to becoming CEO of PDCM, Mr. Gerdom worked for PDC Energy in Denver, Colorado. He was part of the original team that moved PDC Energy into the Wattenberg and Piceance Basins of Colorado. During his career at PDC, he held several positions, including VP of Acquisitions and Divestitures. Earlier in his career, Mr. Gerdom worked for Chevron USA, Inc. as a Landman and Asset Manager. Mr. Gerdom holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Wyoming.

Chris Lambert | Director of Geology

Chris Lambert serves as Director of Geology for Grayson Mill Energy. Prior to his current position, Mr. Lambert served as Geology Manager QStar II LLC, an upstream portfolio company of EnCap Investments L.P. Prior to joining QStar, Mr. Lambert served in a variety of capacities with both Memorial Production Partners and Memorial Resource Development. While at Memorial, Mr. Lambert acted as the Exploitation Manager of the Beta Field asset in California, provided oversight on development and play expansion of the Terryville Field (Lower Cotton Valley) and managed development of multiple fields in both West Texas and South Texas. Mr. Lambert has acted in various capacities including organic prospect generation, asset team leader and M&A geological and geophysical risk assessment with Endeavor Natural Gas, Kaiser Francis Oil Co., PetroCorp Inc. and Phillips Petroleum. Mr. Lambert holds a B.A. in Geology from Dartmouth College, and an M.S. in Geology from the University of Oklahoma.
